What these numbers don't say.

These are cash only.

Equity is listed separately because it varies by stage so wildly that folding it into a "total comp" number is a lie.

Location adjustments are real.

Remote roles still get a geo adjustment at most companies. SF/NYC adds ~20–25%. Rural US subtracts ~15–20%. Ask.

"Competitive salary" means nothing.

If a JD says "competitive" without a number, ask in the first call. If they won't say it, that's an answer.

Negotiate the equity vest, not just the grant.

4-year cliff vesting with a 1-year cliff is standard. Anything past 4 years on the cliff is a red flag.
